Easily one of the most iconic furniture contributions in design history, the Egg Chair is a stunningly distinctive seating solution first introduced by renowned Danish designer Arne Jacobsen in the late 1950s. The durable metal base rotates for ease of use and effortless adaptability. The upholstered shell and seat are curved for comfort and provide a luxurious seating experience. The chair was specifically created for the lobby of the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, a historic establishment that Jacobsen also designed.

Modern Rustic Interiors Whether using it during a movie marathon or when you’re short a seat playing a hand of cards, extra chairs are always a good thing to have around the house. Take this one for example: Crafted from metal, the four-pointed base showcases a silver finish for an understated shine in your space. Fritz Hansen Egg Chair Arne Jacobsen originally designed the Egg for the lobby and reception areas of the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The commission to design every elem
ent of the hotel building as well as the furniture was Jacobsen’s grand opportunity to put his theories of integrated design and architecture into practice. The Egg is one of the triumphs of Jacobsen’s total design philosophy- a curvy sculptural contrast to the Royal Hotel’s rectilinear construction. The Egg sprang from a new technique, which Jacobsen was the first to use; a strong foam inner shell underneath the upholstery. Like a sculptor, Jacobsen strove to find the shell’s perfect shape in clay at home in his own garage. Because of the unique shape, the Egg guarantees a bit of privacy in otherwise public spaces. The Egg – with or without footstool – is both ideal for lobby and lounge areas, and an elegant choice for the home. Designer: Arne Jacobsen, 1958Manufacturer: Fritz HansenDimensions: 33.8\
