1970s Lee West Alpha Egg Chair and Ottoman Restored in New Zealand Sheepskin
An original 1970s Lee West Alpha Chamber Stereo Egg Chair in the house! We not only restored the aging upholstery with new New Zealand sheepskin, we also painted the fiberglass of the chair and ottoman a beautiful black. We wanted the high contrast of black and white. So freaking cool. The unconventional shape and construction of the Egg Chair make it perfect for both sound isolation and excellent acoustics. Its chamber-like shape and upholstered interior cancels out most outside noise, providing a unique environment for meditation, relaxation, and just getting away from it all. Note: The stereo did not function and was missing important wiring, so we chose to reupholster over it. But grab your bluetooth speaker and give it a go on your own. The Forsyth design team was over the moon when we collected the amazing, original Arne Jacobsen Egg chair. Jacobsen was a true visionary as an architect and designer, and his Egg chair is the epitome of Danish mid-century design. Jacobsen originally designed the Egg chair in 1958 for the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen, Denmark. Set on a steel rotating base, the Egg Chair allows sitters to swivel toward a conversation or away from others for more privacy. This is beautiful pair with an ottoman. The pair can be separated.
Vintage Swivel Rattan Chair with Ottoman | Pink and Brown Egg Chair
Vintage rattan chair in an egg shape that swivels and rocks on a strong, stacked base. Has a large tufted light pink cushion that is very thick but also very solid and not super cushiony. The cushion bands snap around the rattan to hold it in place. The light pink color makes it ideal for a nursery or kids room, but the pink is subtle enough that it would also work in the living room or sunroom. Comes with the matching ottoman.The fabric is sun faded. It is very hard to tell from the photos, but the color is definitely not the same over the entire cushion. You can tell that it has sun fading, especially if you look at the back of the cushion, you can see the original pink where the rattan covered it. The rattan has a lot of surface scuffing.
