Thanksgiving is next week! And while I love hosting our family for this Holiday, we always need extra seating! So I spiffed up our old folding table and chairs. It was pretty simple. Here’s how I did it. Report this ad This is what the chair/table set looked like before. Report this ad I took the seats and the table top off. Underneath, the seats were attached with screws and L brackets. It was easy enough to remove the screws and lift off the seats. I wiped every surface down with soapy water to prepare for painting. Report this ad I sprayed all of the frames with spray paint. I tried to keep all of the coats light and even. It took c cans of paint to cover all of the frames of the chairs and table. I used Rustoleum spray pain
t (amazon link) in black Semi gloss. Report this ad While I was waiting for the paint to dry, I recovered the chairs and table top. I somehow missed taking pictures of this step, but here’s the process. I bought about 3 yards of flannel backed plasticy-type fabric from Walmart. It was super inexpensive, like $3 a yard. I laid the fabric out and put the table top upside down on top of it. Then I stapled the fabric to the backer board of the chairs and table. Unfortunately I did this at my kitchen table and used staples that were too long. (Can you see where this is going?) Yes, I stapled the table top to my beautiful kitchen table. (cue tears!!) I dug the staples out (sniff, sniff), bought shorter staples and tried again. I pulled the fabric taught, and stapled as I went around the table top. It worked really well. Once I was done stapling the fabric, I put the recovered table top back into the table frame and screwed it back in. Then I repeated with each of the chairs.
