Hoboken Terminal Shoe Shine Stand by Regina Geoghan. The beautiful wood shoeshine stand was a well-loved fixture in the Hobken Terminal Waiting Room in Hoboken New Jersey. Sadly, when Superstorm Sandy flooded the terminal, the stand, along with the waiting room benches, was damaged by the rushing waters. The shoe shine stand is undergoing restoration. Hoboken NJ is well known in the tri-state area for its old, beautiful brownstones but there are also many old churches and other buildings that speak of the history of the town. One of them is this historic Erie Lackawanna Terminal building which was built in 1907 by the Delaware, Lackawanna and Estern Railroad. Designed by Kenneth M. Murchison in the Beaux-Arts style, the terminal building is listed on the New Jersey Register of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places. It still serves as a major New York metropolitan area transportation hub for commuter rail lines, PATH, Hudson-Bergen LIght Rail, and New York Waterway ferry passengers.
