I’m back with these chairs for third and final round of updates. I swear. Because it’s starting to get ridiculous how much press they’ve been getting. They’re supposed to be accent pieces and they’re total publicity hogs. Mostly because they keep getting themselves in trouble. I think I’m going to start referring to them as Kardashian chairs since they get so much press and keep reinventing themselves. [AdSense-B] Let’s start with the backstory. I bought these two when I was shopping to furnish my condo six years ago. I went to a big box furniture store and bought everything in one fell swoop. Because I was a ding dong. Never, ever, ever again. Learn from my mistakes. I was doing the brown and blue thing and these were cheap and they worked. I didn’t like them at all, even from the beginning. But they matched. That’s where my head was at. Ugh. Matching all the things. So here they sat in my condo. And at our next house (boys now included). And then our next. Fabulous accessories in this photo shot include unfolded laundry, stuffed elephants and grocery bags. #keepingitreal Until they got the first makeover when I tried to chalk paint them. Because everyone said it was so easy and fab. About that. The p
aint scratched off within a few weeks. No one ever tells you that part when they brag on about painting their chairs. Well, I did. But I’m an over sharer. And then I finally recovered them. Not the easiest project in the world because I didn’t have help but not as bad as I was expecting. The hardest part was the measuring and putting the chair back together. If you have help, it wouldn’t be that difficult at all. I didn’t even remove the original fabric. Just stapled the new fabric over the top. TUTORIAL: Here’s the quick and dirty hardly any photo tutorial because I do most projects on impulse and forget to take pictures. The chairs come apart which makes things easy. Remove the legs from the chair. Remove the bottom and back from each other. You’ll need some pliers to loosen the bolts. Measure pieces and staple fabric over seat and back. Measure and cut fabric for chair back. Hot glue in place. Re-attach chair back to seat. Re-attach legs. Admire your handiwork. For the third time. They’re still not comfortable but there here for looks. No one expects much more than that, right? And I think we finally have chairs I can live with.
